Some people say
that in life, there are no shortcuts. One has to stay behind the line to pay for
groceries, process documents, withdraw cash, or even buy a cup of brewed coffee.
Well in the world of computers and technology, there's a slight difference.
This blog is all about keyboard shortcuts and how it makes you efficient in
your computer works.
On a daily basis,
my job requires multitasking wherein I basically type and talk most of the time.
And mind you, making documentation/notes of every account is a seriously tedious
job, especially if you’re talking at the same time. Gladly, I found some
helpful shortcuts on the Web that definitely makes my job a lot easier.
By definition,
keyboard shortcuts involve pressing one or more key/s using a keyboard to
produce a certain command to interface on a computer application/software.
Thus, it expedites the long process of input sequencing to a few keyboard
strokes.
Let me start by
sharing some basic useful shortcuts. Imagine if you will have to click your
mouse to the whole page document to copy everything when you can simply press [Ctrl]
+ [A] to select the entire document. You also don't need to go through the long
process of clicking your mouse and select Paste because you can simply press [Ctrl]
+ [V] and like magic, everything is pasted right where you want it. For cases
that you need to select a certain words, you can press [Shift] and the
appropriate arrow key to highlight the word or phrase, and then press [Ctrl] + [C]
to quickly copy it. Of course, if you can copy some parts of the text or the entire
document, you also have an option to delete the page using a keyboard shortcut.
Select the phrase or text you want to delete, and then press [Delete]. If you want
to delete the whole page, press [Ctrl] + [A] to copy the whole document, and then
press [Delete]. After making the necessary changes on the document, don't
forget to save it by pressing [Ctrl] + [S]. If in case you would like to print
the document, press [Ctrl] + [P] and it will print out the active page. But if
you change your mind and you wanted to undo the previous changes you’ve just
made on your document, simply press [Ctrl] + [Z]. If you want to underline a
certain phrase for emphasis, highlight and press [Ctrl] + [U] or [Ctrl] + [B]
to set the selected text in bold format. Pressing [Alt] + [F] will bring the File
drop-down menu. Another cool shortcut is when you're working on a couple of
programs, you can easily switch between windows by pressing [Alt] + [Tab]. Before,
finding a specific line or phrase is difficult, but by pressing [Ctrl] + [F], you
can quickly type in the text or words you want to search within the document
and the results will be just as quick.
Without keyboard
shortcuts, writing could have taken so much time for writers and other jobs
that require keyboard input. For every job, shortcuts make any computer-related
tasks easier and quicker.
